Ursula Yovich

Ursula Yovich is a Burarra and Serbian actress and singer who was raised in Alawa and Nakara in Darwin before going to study at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in Perth in 1996.

Ursula has since forged a reputation as one of Australian theatre’s most impressive young talents. As well as roles in the feature films Ray Lawrences’s Jindabyne and Baz Luhrman’s Australia, Ursula has received acclaim for her performances in over 20 theatrical performances including Capricornia, The Sapphires, Natural Life, The Sunshine Club and One Night The Moon.

At the 2006 Helpmann Awards Ursula was nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Sapphires and she went onto win for Capricornia in 2007. Most recently Ursula has toured her acclaimed cabaret show ‘Magpie Blues’ in which she sings in English as well as Burarra and Serbian.
